Chandigarh, The St. John’s Old Boys’ Association (SJOBA) marked Teachers’ Day with a special gathering in Chandigarh, bringing together teachers and alumni to celebrate the educators who have played a lasting role in shaping generations of Johnians.
The celebration was coordinated by SJOBA Executive Member Anubhav Naresh, with P. Gaganpall Singh Sekhon, Vice President, SJOBA, playing an important role in organising the event. Dr. Abhishek Misra served as co-host, while SJOBA office bearers, executive members and other alumni were also present.
Danish Mangat, Honorary Secretary, SJOBA, said, “The occasion brought alive the respect and affection alumni continue to have for their teachers. It was a reminder that the connection between a teacher and student does not end when school does.”
The evening began with a warm welcome for the teachers and included specially created photo booths, giving teachers and alumni an opportunity to capture moments together and revisit memories associated with their years at St. John’s.
Ms Rajshree Vipin, Principal, St. John’s High School, said that while Teachers’ Day is always meaningful, it becomes particularly special when former students take the initiative to celebrate the teachers who guided them.
As a gesture of appreciation, SJOBA honoured all the teachers present and organised a special cake-cutting ceremony. The gathering brought together nostalgia, laughter and camaraderie, reflecting the enduring spirit of the St. John’s community.
Brother Augustine, Community Leader, St. John’s High School, said, “The greatest legacy of any school is not only the achievements of its students, but also the relationships and values that remain with them years after they leave the school. This celebration organised by SJOBA is a beautiful way of expressing gratitude towards our teachers.”
The programme also featured Tambola, musical Antakshari, games and interactive activities, creating an evening of entertainment and friendly competition. Teachers were presented with specially curated gifts and goodie bags as tokens of appreciation from the St. John’s alumni community.
The celebration was supported by partner organisations including Kimoha Technologies, Chitkara University, Provider, YKM Bottling Company, Blush, Chaupal, Piccadly, Pt. Khushi Ram and Associates, Siacera, and Just Peachy.
The gathering served as a fitting tribute to the teachers of St. John’s and the values, memories and relationships that continue to connect the school community across generations.
