Le Méridien New Delhi Marks World Chocolate Day with ‘The Rhythm of Origin’
The hotel unveiled ‘Rhythm Resonance’, a life-sized drum kit handcrafted from 150 kg of single-origin Colombian chocolate
New Delhi, : World Chocolate Day at Le Méridien New Delhi took on a distinctive cultural and culinary dimension with The Rhythm of Origin, an immersive celebration inspired by Colombian cacao, music and heritage. Bringing together guests, dignitaries and chocolate enthusiasts, the evening explored chocolate not merely as an indulgence, but through the stories, communities and craftsmanship behind its journey from bean to bar.
Hosted at LM Hub, the experience drew on the cultural landscape of Colombia, a country closely associated with cacao traditions and a rich musical heritage. The concept placed origin at the heart of the evening, connecting flavour with rhythm, artistry and storytelling.
At the centre of the celebration was Rhythm Resonance, a striking edible installation created in response to a playful question posed by the hotel in the weeks preceding the event: What does chocolate sound like?
The answer emerged in the form of a life-sized drum kit sculpted entirely from chocolate. Created by the hotel’s pâtisserie team under the leadership of Chef Davinder Kumar, Vice President – F&B Production, the installation used 150 kilograms of premium single-origin Colombian Casa Luker couverture chocolate.
More than a technical display, the creation brought together the precision of fine pâtisserie and the cultural references that shaped the evening. Each component of the drum kit was handcrafted to translate the energy and rhythm associated with cacao’s origins into an unconventional form of edible art.
“At Le Méridien New Delhi, we believe that every great culinary experience begins with a story. Through The Rhythm of Origin, we wanted our guests to move beyond the familiar taste of chocolate and discover the culture, traditions and creative influences behind its journey,” said Meena Bhatia, Vice President & General Manager, Le Méridien New Delhi.
She added, “Rhythm Resonance reflects the meeting of craftsmanship, creativity and cultural discovery. It is also part of our continued effort to create experiences that spark curiosity and encourage meaningful connections.”
The evening was attended by His Excellency Victor Hugo Echeverri Jaramillo, Ambassador of Colombia to India, adding a significant cultural context to a celebration centred on Colombian cacao. His presence reinforced the connection between the installation and the country’s heritage, communities and evolving cacao traditions.
Through immersive storytelling and chocolate-led creativity, the event traced the broader narrative behind cacao, drawing attention to the people, places and techniques that contribute to its transformation into fine chocolate.
The unveiling of Rhythm Resonance became the evening’s defining moment, with the sculptural drum kit inviting guests to experience chocolate through a new lens — one where culinary technique intersected with visual art and musical expression.
With The Rhythm of Origin, Le Méridien New Delhi extended its approach to cultural programming beyond conventional dining experiences. The World Chocolate Day celebration reflected the hotel’s broader focus on bringing together cuisine, art and destination-led storytelling within the capital.
