At just 17, Jasmeh Kaur Dang is breaking barriers in STEM and motorsports, and her story instantly inspired us to feature her. With her drive, clarity of purpose, and fearless spirit, Jasmeh is the kind of changemaker we believe can inspire countless young people to dream bigger and aim higher. A student of The British School, New Delhi, she is also the founder of Girls on the Grid, a nonprofit that introduces hands-on STEM experiences to young girls who might never have imagined themselves in this space.
Her journey began back in 2021, when she became part of India’s first all-girls F1 in Schools team. Competing in an arena largely dominated by boys came with its fair share of doubts and stereotypes. But instead of being discouraged, Jasmeh transformed those challenges into motivation. “Every time someone told me I couldn’t, I just worked harder to prove that I could,” she recalls with a smile.
That grit has paid off. Today, Jasmeh is a two-time F1 National Champion, an international finalist in the UK and Singapore, and a beacon of inspiration for young girls looking to carve their own path in unconventional fields.
But Jasmeh didn’t stop at her own achievements. With Girls on the Grid, she’s building a pipeline of opportunity for the next generation. Her workshops target girls aged 9–13 from underprivileged schools, using affordable STEM kits that allow them to design, build, and race miniature Formula 1 cars. The idea is simple yet powerful: make engineering fun, accessible, and inclusive. So far, she has partnered with 15 schools in Delhi, directly impacting over 1,000 children.
The initiative has also put her on the global map. From nominations for the Women in Motorsports Award to two TEDx talks, and even being selected as one of just 12 international students for the Williams F1 Work Experience Week 2024 in the UK, Jasmeh is already living the dream many twice her age aspire to.
“Every girl deserves to dream beyond limits. We’re not just building cars, we’re building confidence, opportunities, and a future where no dream is off-limits,” she says passionately.
Looking ahead, Jasmeh envisions scaling her movement beyond Delhi. Plans are underway to expand Girls on the Grid across India and launch a digital platform with virtual races and tutorials, making STEM education more accessible than ever.
